East Quay back on site

Following recent government guidelines, we are delighted to begin to re-start work on the East Quay site.

James Roberts, Midas senior project manager is back this week and has been busy updating the CPP (Construction Phase Plan), a legal requirement for the management of risk on site. The team has been risk assessing the site and packages of work and has held a Planning for Risk meeting between the Midas Safety Director and the Safety Manager.

Midas will be operating in line with all government Covid -19 guidance, including having prepared a site specific plan for East Quay as per the recent Construction Leadership Council Advice (SOP V4) https://www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk/…/site-ope…/

Site operatives will be fully briefed about social distancing rules which should be observed both on and off site and are also being encouraged to bring packed lunches and refreshments to work to minimise the need for trips into town. We will be discussing parking with SW&T and can also use the papermill site if required.

East Quay is a social enterprise that will include 14 workshop/studio spaces for a variety of makers and artists, a gallery, paper mill, rock and fossil preparation lab, 5 accommodation 'pods' and outdoor space for events. It's about sharing public space, reimagining what is possible and connecting. It's a space for making, performance, music and fun. It's a place that demonstrates that when communities, culture and enterprise come together a better future is possible.

Opening in summer 2021
