Onion Collective and Biohm are pleased to announce the first round of recruitment for an ambitious new Watchet based community bio-tech industry, manufacturing construction materials from fungi.

All jobs are full time, with the option to job share. Full training will be provided for all these roles, and we will actively encourage and support continual professional development. 1. Master Mycologist

Employment: Permanent & Full-time | Salary: £25,000-£27,000 pro rata | Application deadline: 20th of March Apply by: email to: sally@onioncollective.co.uk

 

As a Master Mycologist you will be playing a key role in the biological processes of our production facility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about tackling the climate crisis and will have experience or background in Mycology, Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, Cell Biology or similar. Part of this role will be to continuously innovate and develop improved bio-manufacturing processes. This position has an opportunity for growth over time as well as will include leading the on-site mycology team. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Production: inoculation, incubation, de-moulding and curing. • Liaison with Biohm HQ on provision of spawn for production. • Bio-manufacturing protocols. • Quality checks as per QA protocols. • Risk mitigation.

2. Production Manager

Employment: Permanent & Full-time | Salary: £25,000-£30,000 pro rata | Application deadline: 20th of March Apply by: email to: sally@onioncollective.co.uk

 

As a Production Manager you will be a member of the core team at the facility and will play a critical role in the set up of bio-manufacturing procedures and health and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainability and have experience in management, production, logistics as well as exhibit commercial acumen. Great communication and team leadership skills will be desirable as this role will include team management and liaison with third parties.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning and management of production. • Aligning production with inbound waste delivery and outbound product dispatch. • Order fulfilment.

 

​3. Technician

As a Technician you will be a core member of the production team and will play a critical role in bio-manufacturing construction products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering sustainable and environmentally beneficial materials to create positive change and will either have a background in manufacturing or production or be willing to take on a new challenge.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Production: waste sterilisation, mould packing, curing, packaging the products for storage / delivery. • Compliance with QA protocols. • Compliance with risk mitigation protocols. • Assistance with logistics when required.

 

4. Technician / Driver

Employment: Permanent & Full-time | Salary: £17,000-£18,135 pro rata | Application deadline: 20th of March Apply by: email to: sally@onioncollective.co.uk

 

As a Technician / Driver you will be central to the production of bio-manufactured construction materials and will be key in running the inbound and outbound logistics of materials and products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability, for creating positive change in the environment and will either have a background in manufacturing or be willing to take on a new challenge. A clean driving licence is required for the role.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All material collection and product delivery. • Production: waste sterilisation, mould packing, curing, packaging the products for storage / delivery. • Compliance with QA protocols. • Compliance with risk mitigation protocols.
